Jane Wellman died with quick consumption on Monday morning at 1 o'clock a.m. The funeral was held Tuesday at her late home at 2 p.m., Rev. Mr. Reagel (Universalist) officiating, burial being in the family lot in Riverview cemetery. Mrs. Wellman was the widow of the late Chandler Wellman. She was a woman much respected by all here in town and one of a large family and a daughter of the late Stephen Averill, an old-time landlord at the old hotel one mile or more on the East road to Brattleboro.
