Deceased Name: Donald Leedy
COLUMBIA - Services for Donald W. Leedy, 81, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at North Trenholm Baptist Church with entombment in Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum with military rites. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. this evening at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Memorials may be made to North Trenholm Baptist Church or to the National Kidney Foundation of S.C.
Mr. Leedy died Wednesday, December 20, 2000. Born in Highspire, Pa., he was a son of the late Lewis Blake Leedy and Mertie Kauffman Leedy. He attended Penn State and was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute. He retired after 29 years in the U.S. Army with the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War and was a holder of the Bronze Star and the Meritorious Service Medal. Mr. Leedy was a member of the American Legion, Post 6, served as a Primetime Volunteer at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center, was a member of the Donahue Sunday School Class and Deacon Emeritus of North Trenholm Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Mae Gayman Leedy; son, Donald W. Leedy Jr., of Houston, Texas; daughter, Linda Leedy Stearns and her husband, Robert Stearns of Columbia; grandchildren, Lennie Leedy, Staci Phillips, Melanie Colby, Shawn Leedy, David L. Stearns, Melissa Stearns, Shawna Stearns, Lori Leedy, Lisa Nelson, and Tara Leedy; and ten great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Larry C. Leedy.
