He was a Private in Col. Wierick's regiment War of 1812.
He was a native of Perry Co, PA but moved to Union Co, in early manhood where he conducted a farm and a sawmill-source, Commemorative Biographical Record by J.H. Beers and Co. 1898. On Sept 23, 1834 there was an "anti-school" meeting in New Berlin, Union Co, PA. Jacob Sypher had been appointed on the 18th to the be representative to the meeting for White Deer Twp along with Samuel Baker. -Source was Juniata and Susquehanna Valleys in Pa by Everts, Peck and Richards 1886. Jacob was appointed by the chair at that meeting, along with 8 others, to draft a preamble and resolutions, expressive of the sentiments of the delegation
