Hazel Littleton Dayvault, 91, of Raleigh was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, March 23, 2014. Following a private burial, a Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends following the service.

Hazel was born May 16, 1922 in Concord, NC. She was the daughter of Paul James and Winnie Trull Littleton, who preceded her in death. She attended Queens College in Charlotte, NC. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Harry Milas Dayvault, two weeks after he returned from active duty in WWII. They were married for 54 years prior to his death in 1999. Hazel was an active member of Hayes Barton United Methodist Church. She was artistic by nature and enjoyed all kinds of handwork, especially making beautiful smocked dresses for her granddaughters. She was an avid sports fan, and never would miss watching a Tarheel or Braves' game. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She will be greatly missed and remembered for her loving smile, her faith, and her courage and perseverance as she overcame many health issues throughout her life.

She is survived by her three children, Paul David Dayvault and wife, Teresa, of New Bern; Harriet Dayvault Nowell and husband, Matt, of Raleigh; and Philip Edward Dayvault of Raleigh; grandchildren Laura Nowell Swayne (Steve), Rebecca Dayvault Emory (Andrew), Sarah Dayvault Morrison (Hunter), Matt Hooper Nowell, jr. (Marilyn), Kathryn Nowell Loper (Houston) and Paul Nathan Dayvault; 12 great-grandchildren; and many special cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the nurses and the CNAs at Rex Rehab and Nursing Care Center for their loving care of Mother these last months of her life.
