HINTON, Iowa | Delbert L. Raby, 100, of Hinton passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at Whispering Creek Retirement Community in Sioux City.

Delbert was born on Oct. 19, 1913, in Hinton, the son of Alfred and Alice (Angove) Raby. Delbert was baptized in the Methodist faith.

Delbert married Clara Eberhard on Sept. 5, 1933, in Hinton. They were married 80 years and six months. Delbert was a farmer until he retired in 1977 and continued helping his son-in-law on the farm until moving to Hinton in 2006. He enjoyed farming and also enjoyed working with his saddle ponies, and training them.

Delbert was a member of Melbourne United Methodist Church. Delbert served on the Farmers Coop Board, and was a member of the Moville (Iowa) Saddle Club, where he held the office of president. Delbert enjoyed his family, his friends and his church family.

Survivors include four daughters, Shirley Kooker of Spencer, Iowa, Donna Lucht and her husband, Jim of Hinton, Carol McMillen and her husband, Larry of Merrill, Iowa, and Kathy Priborsky and her husband, Bob of Littleton, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; nine great-stepgrandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Delbert was preceded in death by his wife, Clara; his parents, Alfred and Alice Raby; sister, Elsie Kamm; three brothers, Chester, Herbert and Wilbur in infancy; and two sons-in-law, Bill Weinrich and Earl Kooker.
