Mr. Carter died unexpectedly Friday morning while visiting at the home of a neighbor. He had had a heart attack in January, but was recovering and was expected to return to work next week as a salesman for McRaneu Co. He previously operated the Jitney Jungle store in Collins.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eva Willingham Carter, three daughters, Mrs. Waylon Stewart, Jackson; Mrs. Franklin Bryant, Hattiesburg; and Miss Betty Lou Carter, Collins; two sons, Oscar D. Carter, Jackson; and H. L. Carter, Jr., Collins; two grandchildren; his father, J. M. B. Carter, Collins; four sisters, Mrs. Bruce VanZant, D'Lo; Mrs. Nora Parrish, Jackson; Mrs. Joe Sanford, McComb; Mrs. Viola McCardle, Freeport, Tex.
