BOARDMAN – There will be funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 6, at the Western Reserve Baptist Church, 8590 Hitchcock Road in Boardman for David W. Yeany, 88, who died Saturday morning, June 30, at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 22, 1917 in Youngstown, the son of the late D. Frank and Ethel L. Shook Yeany and lived most of his life in Boardman.

A 1936 graduate of Boardman High School, David was a Nationwide Insurance Company representative for 41 years. He had previously worked at the Youngstown Sheet & Tube Company in the payroll department and in the family business, Yeaney Brothers Coal.

He was a member of the Western Reserve Baptist Church and the former Organization of Protestant Men. He was a trustee of Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, a member of the Mahoning County Farm Bureau, a director of Farmer’s National Bank and a notary public.

David was a country western singer with Buckeye Dave and His Texas Wonders in 1939 and 1940. Most recently, he was interested with the Youngstown-Southern Railroad.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Betty Jane Wolf, whom he married Oct. 14, 1940; two daughters, Judith Ann (Bob) Back of Houston and Diane L. Mady of Poland; a son, David W. (Joyce) Yeany Jr. of Lexington, Ky.; three sisters, Betty Jean Rehn of Cincinnati, and Ethel Louise Meek and Shirley Mae Case, both of Columbiana; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

He will be sadly missed.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur A. Yeany and George Yeany; and a grandson, Curtis Yeany.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Thompson Funeral Home, 4221 Market St. in Boardman and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
