William Winterton, Rome Resident Five Years, Dies
William H. Winterton Sr., resident of Rome for five years, died suddenly last night at the home of his son, Raymond W. Winterton, Germany Road, Verona Station.
Born in Floyd, Aug. 1, 1873, he was a retired farmer. About 52 years ago, he married the late Emma Markley at Annsville. He operated a farm in the Town of Annsville for many years.
He was a maember of the Methodist Church, Taberg.
Besides his son, he leaves three other sons, Roy E. and William H. jr., Rome, and Merrill J. Oneida; a daughter, Mrs. J. F. Carr, Oneonta, 11 grandchildre, a great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services Held For W. H. Winterton, Sr.
Verona Station, Sept 14, 1944 - funeral services for William H. Winterton Sr., who died Sunday, were held at 2 p.m. today at the home of his son, Raymond W. Winterton with the Rev. F. E. Morey officiating. Ther Rev. Donald Houser offered prayer.
Bearers were George Loomis, Delos Kilbourn, Elmer Kilbourn and Ralph Wheeler, Interment was made in Maple Hill Cemetery at Taberg.
