South Casco - Earl L. Briggs, Sr., 77, died Saturday at a Bridgton hospital following a brief illness. He was born at Whitefield, NH, son of George W. and Emma Bean Briggs. Mr. Briggs lived at Bethlehem, NH and Portland, for many years before moving here seven years ago. He worked a number of years for the former Amtex Corp. of South Portland and until his death was owner of Briggs Subdivision of South Casco. A Navy veteran of World War II, he served with the Seabees. Survivors include his wife, Helen Kozar Briggs of South Casco; a son, Earl L., Jr., of Portland; four daughters, Mrs. Louis (Ann) Picariello of Needham, Mass.; Mrs. Russell (Barbara) Belliveau of Enfield, NH; Mrs. Raymond (Julie) Gillespie of Raymond; and Mrs. Timothy (Dolores) Curran of Canton, Conn; a brother, Russell Briggs of Orange City, Fla; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by another daughter, Mrs. James (Mary) McLean. Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Murch Cemetery.

He was buried on April 9, 1984 at Murch Cemetery, Casco, Cumberland Co., Maine.
