Son of James E. Kirby and Ellen Burke of Alto Township. Married Louise C. Murray. Father of James Murray Kirby and Mary Louise Kirby Winter (John). Grandfather of Michael, Patrick and Timothy Winter and James Michael Kirby.

James F. Kirby
James F. Kirby, 80, of 126 Park Ave., DeKalb, died October 4, 1978 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 22, 1898 in Steward, the son of James and Ellen (Burke) Kirby. He married Louise C. Murray April 12, 1926 in Lee. He was a farmer in Lee until retiring in 1950. Since that time he has been a cattle dealer in DeKalb County. Survivors include his wife; on daughter, Mrs. John (Mary) Winter of Winnebago, Ill; one son, James M. Kirby of DeKalb; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Healy of Evanston, Mrs. Harry (Bun) Hobson of Sarasota , Fla., one brother, Dr. E.B. Kirby of Chicago; and several neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers. He was a member of St. Mary's Church of DeKalb. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Eagles 1316, and B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge 765. Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in DeKalb. Father Joseph Joseph Kulak will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lee. Friends may call Thursday from 4-8:30 p.m. at the Ronan-Moore Mortuary, DeKalb.

Note: 126 Park Avenue is about 2 blocks from George H. Kirby's residence of 444 E. Lincoln Highway.
