Rochelle -- Mrs Rose M. Askvig, 88, of 1201 Crest Lane, Rochelle, died today (Thursday) in Rochelle Community Hospital after a short illness. Mrs. Askvig was born April 12, 1891 in Malta, the daughter of Patrick and Nora Sullivan Riley. She married Joseph S. Askvig on January 24, 1916 in DeKalb. Prior to her marriage she taught school in DeKalb County. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, St. Patick's Parish Club and the Rochelle Service Club. Surviving are her husband; one son, Harlan of Rochelle; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, August 18 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. The Rev. Francis Kennedy will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday in the Unger Funeral Home. A memorial Fund has been established.
