Frieda J. Ehrhart, 83, passed away of natural causes on May 18, 2009, at the Hanover Hospital. She was the loving wife of Sidney S. Ehrhart, to whom she was married 58 years.

Born in West York, on July 28, 1925, she was the eldest daughter of the late Albert E. and Lydia (Shaeffer) Gaffney. Mrs. Ehrhart graduated from William Penn High School in 1943, and attended York Junior College, Wheaton (Ill.) College, and Gettysburg College, earning a degree in Music Education. Her teaching career, spanning 36 years, began as a Music Supervisor of Codorus Township High School and 12 one room schools, and continued in the Dillsburg area, Romulus, N.Y., and West York Area School District.

At West York, she served as Choral Music teacher, produced and directed the Broadway shows, and was Chairperson of the Music Department for her last 12 years. She was a member of St. Jacobs Lutheran Church, Glenville, the Shiloh Garden Club, the Hanover Country Club, and the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Ehrhart is survived by two sisters, Ellen Hull and husband, Glenn, and Kathryn Decker and husband, James; and beloved nieces, nephews, and countless former students
