Glen A. Solchenberger, age 83, of Friendship, Wisconsin passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at Villa Pines Living Center in Friendship, Wisconsin.

Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Trinity Congregational Church in Adams, Wisconsin. Rev. Richard Corning will officiate. Glen was born December 13, 1930 in Adams, Wisconsin to Leo J. and Cora A. (Greeley) Solchenberger.

He graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1948.

Glen married Velva L. Podoll on January 1, 1951 at the Podoll family farm in Lincoln Township, Adams County. In 1952 he was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954.

Glen worked for the C&NW Railroad for 41 years until his retirement in 1989. He loved his job and especially loved traveling to derailments throughout the state and upper mid-west. Following his retirement he and Vel spent many years as winter Texans.

There wasn't anything he wouldn't try and he could accomplish anything he set his mind to. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix, even if it wasn't broke. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do to help friends, family, and often strangers.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Leo & Cora Solchenberger; brothers, Edward, Fred & Lyle; sisters, Esther & Lucille; Parents in law, Merle Podoll & Dorothy Frozene.
