Norman J. Baus, age 78, of Rubicon passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012 at his residence, surrounded by his family.

He was born June 4, 1934 in Wahpeton, North Dakota, to Roman and Frances (nee Vollrath) Baus. Norman was united in marriage to Josephine Schmitt on May 5, 1956 at St. John's Catholic Church in Rubicon.

Norman grew up in the family meat cutting business and had a variety of jobs as a teenager. He was a member of the National Guard. Norman retired from Lee Precision of Hartford after 45 years of service.

Norman was always there to lend a helping hand to family and friends - using his backhoe, chainsaw, tire changer or other tools. He was a volunteer member of the Woodland Fire Department, serving as chief from 1967-1985. He was a member of the Wisconsin Fire Chiefs Association and St. John's Catholic Church. Norman's hobbies included trap shooting, playing cards, and riding his Gold Wing Motorcycle with Josephine right behind him. He was always happy to let everyone know how many miles they put on in a day.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Josephine; his children Romy (Cindy) Baus of Rubicon, Frank Baus of Hartford, Barbara (Robert) Grinwald of Rubicon, Kenny Baus of Hartford, Jane (Paul) Faust of Hartford, Marilyn (Tony) Kaminski of Rubicon; eight grandchildren; Kim Wesell, Karen (Aaron) Matuszak, Bart, Brent and Becky Grinwald, Devan and Amanda Faust, and Beau Kaminski, two great grandchildren; Parker Wesell and Landon Matuszak, his sister, Rosemary (Franklin) Brown of Hartford, sisters-in-law Patricia Baus of Hartford, Dolores Lindemann and Margaret Mary Schmitt of Rubicon and Marie Kraemer of Wautoma. Norman is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Baus, his father and mother-in-law Frank and Anna Schmitt and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
