Andrew Thomas "Andy" Rushton

EXETER TWP. — Andrew Thomas "Andy" Rushton, 40, of Exeter Township, passed away Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, in the home of Brian and Jenni Noecker, Douglassville.
Born in Kingston, he was a son of John Rushton, husband of Karen (Gilligan) Rushton, Swoyerville, and the late Juliana (Farrell) Roggo, wife of Louis A. Roggo Sr., Woodbridge, Virginia.
Andy was a graduate of Daniel Boone High School and the Reading Police Academy. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a manager for Fox Theaters in Reading, Ocean City, Maryland, and Baltimore. He then was the owner of Reading Discount Cinemas, Fifth Street Highway, Reading, and, since 2007, served as a deputy sheriff in the Berks County Sheriff's Department, working in three divisions in six years: courts, central booking and warrants.
Andy was preceded in death by twin brothers, Bryan and Christopher Rushton.
Andy is also survived by his siblings, John J. Rushton, Reading, Amy L. (Rushton) Laurence, wife of John C. Laurence, Mount Penn, Elisabeth A. (Rushton) Davis, wife of Seth Davis, Shillington, Louis A. Roggo Jr., husband of Shayna Roggo, Woodbridge, and Mark Gilligan, husband of Amy Gilligan, Virginia Beach, Virginia; along with several nieces and nephews; special friend, Melissa Miller; honorary godparents, Susan and Nunzio Bolognese.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Immaculate Conception B.V.M. Church, 905 Chestnut St., Douglassville, with the Rev. Monsignor John B. McCann as celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow in Charles Evans Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in Bean Funeral Homes, 6 Fairlane Road, Reading, and 8:45 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Andy's memory to American Brain Tumor Association, 8550 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., Suite 550, Chicago, IL 60631.
