McRAE--July 20th, 1969, after a lengthy illness, Vernon Alexander (Vern), aged 59 years, beloved husband of Mrs. Mary McRae, 1424 27th St. S.W. and dear father of Jane and Grant. Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. F.J. Shirley (Mary), Vancouver, B.C., Mrs. I. Wilkinson (Rose), Burns Lake, B.C., Mrs. W. F. Bannister (Dolores) of Three Hills and Mrs. E. Rose (Jean), North Vancouver, B.C.; four brothers, Christopher, Duncan, William and Burns, all of Calgary.
Born at Beaverton, Ontario, he came to Calgary in 1911. Well known to cattlemen throughout Southern Alberta, Vern McRae was a director of the Calgary Livestock Exchange and in the employ of Parslow and Denoon for over 25 years. He was a very keen sportsman, playing hockey and football in his youth and he was also a great lover of horses.
