Born at Beaverton, Ontario, he came to Calgary in 1911. Well known to cattlemen throughout Southern Alberta, Vern McRae was a director of the Calgary Livestock Exchange and in the employ of Parslow and Denoon for over 25 years. He was a very keen sportsman, playing hockey and football in his youth and he was also a great lover of horses.
