Gerrit J. Top passed away at the Rock Valley Manor on Friday, Feb. 18.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 21 at the Trinity Reformed Church with Rev. Donald Lenderink officiating. Interment was in the Newkirk Cemetery and arrangements were by the Van Gelder Funeral Home.
Gerrit J. Top, 91, was born on August 6, 1885. He married Nell Popma Jan. 21, 1909 at Orange City. The couple were married 68 feyears last January. They farmed at Newkirk until 1946 when they moved to Orange City.
He lived at the Rock Valley Manor since July 1976.
Survivors include his widow and 3 children Mrs. Arie (Winifred) Bomgaars of Cherokee, la., Mrs. Henry (Kathryn) Bomgaars of Orange City and Cliffort Top of Newkirk. There are 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, l sister, Mrs. John J. Van Oort and 1 brother, William Top, both of Orange City.
