Mrs. Magadeline "Granny B" P. Brewer, 93, of Columbia, died on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at UniHealth Post Acute Care of Columbia. Born on September 2, 1919, in Sanford, NC, she was a daughter of the late John Robert Parson and Mary Ruth Willette Parson.
A lifelong resident of Columbia, she was a past member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Sanford, NC, and was a devoted and dearly loved mother, grandmother and friend. Known for making the best cornbread dressing, she loved bingo and all football. An avid gardener, Mrs. Brewer loved working in her yard, watching birds and spending time with her beloved cat "Butterball".
Survivors include daughters, Libby Byars of Hopkins, Brenda (Frank) Brock of Henderson, NC, Katherine Stratton of Columbia, Rose Marie Berkey of Charlotte, NC; sons, Jerry (Myrtle Sue) Tillman of Fayetteville, NC, Tommy (Nellie) Tillman of Sanford, NC, Johnny (Judi) Tillman of Columbia, Steve (Cindy) Brewer of Columbia; adopted daughter, Rita McCaskill; twenty three grandchildren and thirty one great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Palmer Tillman; second husband, O. W. Brewer; a daughter, Judy (Tillman) Null; brothers, John Wesley Parson, Clyde Parson; sisters, Geneva Morgan and Helen Nall; grandchildren, Randy Parker Tillman, Cynthia Stroud and Sandi Raye Null.
