She leaves behind her three children, Ed Nelson and wife Ruth of Virginia Beach, VA, Elizabeth Waycaster and her husband James of Rutherfordton and John Nelson and his wife Alice of Mebane; a brother, Bob Elliott of Marietta, GA; two loving grandchildren, Brad Waycaster and his wife Isabel and Julie W. Cooley and her husband Robert; a great-grandson, Garris Cooley; and a number of step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A service in celebration of her life will be held on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion with Mr. Jim Hobbs officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in a private graveside committal service at McDowell Memorial Park at a later date.
