Georgia, Norma Jean LaVanway Young, 77 of Decker Road, passed away peacefully, Tuesday August 5, 2014 in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, surrounded by her loving family. Norma Jean was born July 27, 1937 in Fayston, the daughter of the late William and Marion McCullough LaVanway. She was married to Raymond "Jim" Young Jr. having shared 35 years together. Norma Jean loved working at her business, Norma Jean's Tax Service. She was a member and past president of the Vermont Tax Practitioners Association. She loved hunting, fishing and tied her own flies. Gardening, canning, cooking and baking were just few of Norma Jean's talents. She crocheted, knitted and sewed so well that she was often asked to share her expertise as an excellent seamstress by making costumes for BFA Fairfax Theater Arts plays. Norma Jean often sewed wedding dresses and created wedding cakes for many happy brides. Everyone who knew Norma Jean realized how much she loved and adored her Boston Terriers. Norma Jean became a Christian and bravely faced death with grace, trust and dignity until God called her home. A loving wife, beloved mother and grandmother, she will be deeply missed. She is survived by her husband, Raymond "Jim" of Georgia and their family including children and grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 7 pm in the Minor Funeral Home, Route 7 in Milton. Burial will be private at a later date.
