Funerals

May 3rd
1896

Mrs. Catherine Keiser (da. of Jacob Swalley). Born near Hagerstown, Carrol [sic] Co. Ohio Feb. 15th 1815. Baptized in infancy, confirmed in New Philadelphia in Lutheran Denomination. Married to John Keiser at about 20 years of age and resided there in Fry's Valley to the time of her death. The mother of 6 sons and 5 daughters. 2 sons and 4 daughters preceded her to their graves. Her husband died Feb. 8th 1870. She died at about 4 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon April 24th 1896 of general failing and ___several unreadable words__ and inability to take nourishment. Her age was 81 yrs 2 mos & 14 days.

The funeral services were held in the Moravian Church at Gnadenhutten and interment was in the Gnadenhutten Cemetery. The funeral was conducted by the Fry's Valley Cemetery and Bishop Van Vleck assisted __couple unreadable words__. H. J. Hartmann
