Mary Helen Morris, 94, of Powderly, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 2:00 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4th, at the Powderly Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
Mrs. Morris, the daughter of Thomas & Virginia Jackson Seaton, was born Nov. 23, 1919. On May 29, 1937, she married David Benjamin Morris, building fifty-four years of family and memories before his death on March 23, 1992.
She was a member of Powderly Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and worked with the children. Mrs. Morris was a seamstress and worked from her home. During her later years she loved making quilts, and many family and friends have quilts she made.
She was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Tommy Dicken and Allen Taylor.
Survivors include three children, T. J. Morris & wife Polly of Powderly, Katherine Dicken of Powderly and Glenda Taylor of Rattan, OK, 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, three siblings, Charlene Curtis, Jacob Seaton and Audrey Seaton along with several nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
Casket bearers will be: Ben Dicken, Jeff Dicken, Wayne Morris, Bobby Allison, Cameron Ingram and Stace Jenkins. Scotty Taylor will serve as an honorary bearer.
