Mrs. Battin was born in Portsmouth and was the widow of James Reed Battin Sr. He was a member of Miles Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, J. Reed Battin Jr. of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Helen Herbener of Hampton; and two grandchildren.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Daniel K. Ivey. Friends may join the family at the cemetery after the service. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to Miles Memorial United Methodist Church.
