Kenneth "Buzzard" Rutledge, 68, a longtime resident of Cleveland passed away on Tuesday morning, July 29th, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.

Kenneth was born in Campaign, TN on November 19, 1945 a son of the late Thomas and Beatrice Rutledge. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army after faithfully serving his country. Kenneth worked for many years in the construction industry and also at Maytag Corporation. He was of the Church of God faith. Kenneth enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and going to the local stock car races.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one sister Vivian Harding and seven brothers Harve Rutledge, Willie Rutledge, James Burton Rutledge, Thomas E. Rutledge, Aaron Rutledge and Samuel Rutledge.

Kenneth leaves behind to cherish is memory his loving and devoted wife of fifty one years Janice Rutledge, two sons Michael Rutledge and wife Erica and Steve Rutledge and companion Stephanie Dillard, grandchildren Kailan, Trent, Callie, Cory and Autum, two great grandchildren Rylie and Saige, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.

A celebration of his life is planned for Friday August 1st, 2014 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown Road in Cleveland, TN with the Reverend Benny Watson, David Harding and Larry Watkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery and will conclude with full military honors. Wayne Watson, Bill Gosnell, Charlie Gosnell, Johnathon Wiseman, Harry Hendricks and Ricky Murray will serve and pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Thursday night, July 31st, 2014 in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and also one hour prior to the service on Friday.
