Age 7 on 1860 census so his birth would be about 1853
Assume son of Robert. He was born before Robert and Susan Denning were married. He most likely had a mother that died.(** his Mother's name is on the grave marker and researched 5/31/2020 to be Agnes/Agnnes Ewing and she most likely died before June 2, 1859 when his father remarried Susan Brown. Leander had a full sister, Jane Elizabeth and a brother who most likely died before 1860, William Denning who was born about 1856 and was not on the 1860 Census nor is Mary born about 1851)
By the 1880 he was living in California. On the 1900 census he is a gold miner living in California & owns his own home. 1910 census he is still living in California, a miner, and owns his home free of mortgage. He died Sept. 16, 1919 in Plumas County, California. He would have been about 66 to 70 years old at time of death.

++a volunteer looked for his grave marker Jan 2O15 and was unable to find grave. He is listed for the cemetery but they have no record of where the grave is. Cemetery personnel suggested getting death certificate which should give plot location.+++Grave marker has been found..added his middle name and mother's name. Also found a full sister who did they following year in Indiana.Thank you very much!
