George Franklin Davis, 86, formally of Roswell, New Mexico, and who made his home with his son, the Rev. James O. Davis in Walnut, Illinois, died Tuesday morning at Perry Memorial Hospital following a long illness.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday in the Ross Funeral Home, Walnut and burial will be in the Walnut Cemetery.

Mr. Davis, a retired farmer, was born October 31, 1886, in Arkansas, a son of Benjamin and Amanda (Boring) Davis. He married Joanna Yarbrough on December 13, 1907 in Arkansas.

Surviving are two sons, Glenn Powell Davis of Lancaster, California, the Rev. James Olen Davis of Walnut, Illinois; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, eight brothers and one sister.

George had one other son named Roy Reed Davis. His whereabouts are unknown at the time of his death.
