Kenneth M. Alberts, 74, of New Sewickley Township, passed on Friday, December 23, 2011 at his residence. He was born August 24, 1937 in Conway, son of the late Michael J. and Jean Elizabeth (Reich) Alberts. Ken proudly served his country with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany assigned to missile defense. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and began working at Spangler's. Later became a construction carpenter and worked out of the Local Union 966. He retired in 2000. Ken was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, New Sewickley Township. In his leisure, Ken enjoyed a variety of wood crafting. Through the years he and his wife attended many craft shows together. Family and friends will long treasure one of his wishing wells or windmills. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, his son and daughter-in-law, two daughters and sons-in-law, five grandchildren, one brother and sister-in-law, and one sister. Friends will be received Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 2- 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). His service will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in the funeral home with The Rev. Michael Podesvwa, officiating. Private interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
