Glenn W. ''Tex'' Brooks, 84, of Atlanta died at 12:30 p.m. Friday (Feb. 10, 2006) at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Mo.


He was born March 23, 1921, in Morgantown, Ky., a son of Ord and Eliza Austin Brooks. He married Mary Love on Aug. 11, 1943, in Mount Pulaski. She survives.


Also surviving are one daughter, Glenda (Curt) Bietz, Four Seasons, Mo.; one grandson, Jonathan (Ellen) Bietz, Burkburnett, Texas; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Edna Gaither, Atlanta; two brothers, Herman Brooks, Atlanta, and Kenneth Brooks, Lincoln; and several nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Harold Brooks; and one grandson, Matt Bietz.


Mr. Brooks was an Army veteran of World War II.
