John (Jan) and his twin brother, Jacob, were born in House 2 Na Osuli, parish Vitejovice, South Bohemia. Jacob died shortly after death. The record of the twins' birth is found in the Trebon Digital Archives, Vitejovice Book 21 Image 4 and shown here.

John married Rozzine Mares 04 Feb 1861 in Vitejovice, South Bohemia. Along with daughter Agnes, they left Bohemia by way of Bremen to New York on the ship NEW YORK 28 May 1861. They settled in Davenport, Iowa initially, where his brother Frank had settled in 1854.

The family fell upon hard times as there was a Sheriff's Sale of his residence and possessions. John and his family later moved to Pennsylvania.

John's death certificate listed his place of birth and that of his parents as Austria, which is what Bohemia was referred to at that time. The informant was his daughter, Rose Kutcher.

John was a watchman. He is buried in the same Section and Division of Union Dale Cemetery, but he and Rose are not together.

His death certificate reads JOHN CINADR; some of his children chose to use the Americanized version SNYDER.
