Funeral services for Ruby Nell Watts McCalip, 87, of Natchez, who died Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Natchez Regional Medical Center, were at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Kramer officiating. Burial followed at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Mrs. McCalip was born February 10, 1927 in Lincoln County, MS, the daughter Franklin Marion Watts and Annie Bell Posey Watts. She attended West Lincoln High School in Lincoln County and was valedictorian of her graduating class. She graduated from Draughon Business College in Jackson, MS. At age 80, she retired from E. L. McCalip and Son Gravel Company.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ernest L. McCalip, her brothers: Columbus Watts, Loyd Watts, Pearlie Watts, and Robert Watts; and her sisters: Bessie Lou Watts Adams, Clara Mae Watts Smith, and Gertrude Watts Smith.
