Antoinette "Ann" Catalano, 91, a professional vocalist who sang Italian songs on a Buffalo radio station in the late 1920s, died Wednesday (Feb. 9, 2000) in Newfane Inter-Community Hospital after a brief illness.
The former Antoinette Carlini was born in Ceccano, Italy, the daughter of Mariano and Maria (D'Amico) Carlini.
She came to the U.S. in 1920, arriving in Barnesboro, Pa. She moved to Niagara Falls in 1924, and then to Cleveland in the early 1930s.
A professional vocalist who went by the name of Ann Carlini, she sang in restaurants in Cleveland, primarily singing opera arias and Italian songs.
She was a resident of the Mount View Health Care Facility in Lockport at the time of her death. She had lived in Briarwood Manor, Lockport, prior to that.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Her husband, Robert C., died in 1980.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Forcucci; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Beatrice (Magno) Petrazzoulo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m., Monday, in St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Ave., following services at 10 in the M.J. Colucci & Son Funeral Chapel, 468 19th St.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
