Ed Schulmeister, 67, of Oelwein, Iowa died on Saturday evening, July 26, 2014 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein with Deacon Jim Patera officiating. Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein. Parish Scripture Service at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Inurnment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, at a later date with military graveside rites by the Oelwein American Legion Ross Reid Post #9.

Edward Leneus Schulmeister was born on August 10, 1946 in Independence, Iowa the son of Jacob Leneus & Myrle Eileen (Cornwell) Schulmeister. Ed graduated from Oelwein Community High School in the Class of 1965. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Ed was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Fox on May 31, 1966 in Independence, Iowa. Ed was a longtime Oelwein resident. He retired from John Deere in Waterloo after working there for 31 years. Ed was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. He enjoyed fishing, camping and working in the flower beds around his home.

Ed is survived by his Wife: Pat Schulmeister of Oelwein; Daughter: Dana (Traecey) Hershey of Oelwein; Son: Darin (Erin) Schulmeister of Oelwein; 3 Granddaughters; 4 Grandsons; 3 Brothers: Jacob (Carmon) Schulmeister of Independence, Tom (Julie) Schulmeister of Oelwein and Robert (Cheryl) Schulmeister of Oelwein and several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces & Nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Nancy Ann Schulmeister and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Richard & Marjorie Fox.
