Andrew Thomas Shannon, 86, a well-known and highly respected citizen passed away Tuesday in a Paintsville, KY nursing home, which he entered some time ago. A retired building contractor, Mr. Shannon was a member of the first United Methodist Church, Louisa, KY, where funeral rites will be conducted Thursday at 2 pm. with the pastor, Rev. Alton Brown, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The deceased, born March 14, 1884 at Gallup, KY, a son of the late James and Nancy Christian Shannon, pioneer settlers of that section of Lawrence County. Mr. Shannon was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Peters Shannon, in 1969. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Elmer Lyon, of Paintsville, KY, Mrs. Homer Wright Jr. of Louisa, and Mrs. Clay Snedegar of Frankfort, KY; a son, Andrew K. Shannon, Huntington, WV, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. The body will be removed from the Young Funeral Home to the church to lie in state one hour before funeral time.
