Donald J. Holmes, age 83, of Danbury, CT died Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Danbury Health Care.
Don was born in Danbury, April 24, 1931, son of the late Thomas and Mary (Laughlin) Holmes. He served in the Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany as a typist, something he was very proud of. For many years, he worked as an Optician and later worked at Marcus Dairy. He was a long time member of the First Congregational Church of Danbury.
He is survived by his 2 sons: David A. Holmes and his wife Colleen of Exton, PA, Matthew Holmes of West Palm Beach, FL and 2 Grandchildren: Samantha and Alexander Holmes. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 2 brothers.
The family would like to thank the staff at Danbury Health Care for the compassionate care of Donald.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to a charity of one's choice .
A graveside service will be held at Wooster Cemetery, Danbury, Section 23, Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Pat Kriss of the First Congregational Church officiating. There are no calling hours. Information and on-line condolences at Hullfuneralservice.com.
