Obituaries: Arthur A. Ross
Arthur A. Ross, 83, route 7, Decatur, a retired farmer, former employee of the state and Adams County highway departments and onetime worker for the Erie Railroad died at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday at Adams County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since Friday.
He was a member of Mt. Zion United Brethren Church and a lifelong resident of St. Mary's Township.
Born in Adams County on Oct. 13, 1902, he was the son of Richard I. and Amanda Thatcher-Ross, and was married Feb. 2, 1926 to Fanny (Katherine) Brodbeck. She died Jan. 24, 1979.
Survivors include five children: Mrs. Charles (Merman) Haven, South Bend; Mrs. Max (Mary) Case, route 1, Berne; Mrs. James (Audrey) Cowens, route 3, Decatur; Mrs. Don (Jane) Suman, route 7, Decatur; Bob Ross, Decatur; two sisters, Mrs. Howard (Ethel) Beck, route 7, Decatur, and Mrs. Frank (Viola) Fortney, Pleasant Mills; a brother, Bob Ross, route 7, Decatur; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. Five brothers and one grandson are deceased.
Services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Zwick-Boltz & Jahn Funeral Home, Rev. Matt Blanton officiating. Burial will be in Willshire Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today. Memorials are to the church.
