Born on July 9, 1933, he was a son of the late Charles & Maude (Walters) McNamara. John had held various employments throughout his life, but mainly as a woodsman, heavy equipment operator, and truck driver. He loved his family, cooking and baking, canned vegetables from his garden, and he made sure to provide ice cream cones to his grandchildren. In his youth, he loved to farm and the animals. He also was an accomplished musician, playing the guitar, accordion and steel guitar. John was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers; George, Charles, his twin brother Pete; twin infant sisters and son-in-law Earl Loehr.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years Janet of Newberry; daughter Alyce Loehr in Newberry; and sons Victor (Becky) of Glennie, MI; Johnnie and Kelly (Tyke) McNamara also of Newberry. John also raised 2 nephews Ryan and Shawn both of Newberry. Also surviving are 19 grandchidlren and 36 great-grandchildren.
According to his wishes, John was cremated and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
