Tom was born on November 15, 1931, in Decatur, Illinois the son of Oscar Augusta and Anita Marie (Dalby) Burrus. He moved to Severy when he was eight and attended school in Fall River. After his schooling, he joined the National Guard. After his discharge, Tom moved to California. Later he moved to Plainville where he opened his own welding business. Tom then moved to Cheney and became an over the road truck driver working for various companies such as Halliburton and Young's Construction. Tom also lived in various parts of Oklahoma before moving to Eureka in 1998 after his retirement.
In 1955, he married Vera Graham in Fall River. This marriage later ended in divorce. Then in 1972, he married Joyce Sprick in Plainville. This marriage later ended in divorce.
He is survived by his sons, Tony Bahr of Severy; and Justin Burrus of Colby; long-time companion, Barbara Smith; and two sisters, Patty Strickler of Eureka; and Karen Ebberts of Eureka. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, and one grandson, Maverick Thomas Burrus.
Interment at South Lawn Cemetery, Severy, Kansas.
