Delbert Ray Allsop, our devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, returned home to our loving Heavenly Father on July 24, 2014 at the age of ninety-six following extended visits with all of his children, and many of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Delbert was born in Sandy on April 12, 1918 to Myrle Allsop and Veloy Bateman.

As a child, he worked at his father's service station at 90th South and State Street. It was there that he learned his auto repair skills and his expert handyman skills.

Delbert attended Jordan High School, where he met his beloved wife, Afton. He attended the University of Utah and became an Electrical Engineer, working for Westinghouse in Pennsylvania and Utah and for Nevada Power in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Delbert loved to play golf and could be found on the course into his 90's. He loved music, square dancing, bowling, and traveled extensively across the United States and throughout Europe. He enjoyed family history and served as a Family History Missionary in his golden years.

Delbert is survived by wife, Lola O'Driscoll; children, Kay Wilcox (Carold; deceased) of Tyler, Texas; Lynne Rothey (Lon) of Escondido, California; and Ray Allsop of Las Vegas. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and his brother, Reed Allsop (Marge), of Murray. Delbert is preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-one years, Mary Afton Nilsson Allsop (1918-1992); his parents; and sisters, Lois Dea and Gladys Hind.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2014 at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street (100 East), Midvale. Friends may call on Sunday, July 27, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and prior to the services on Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment will be in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy.
