In 1956, the family took a vacation to California, and then decided to move there. They purchased a home in Anaheim, California, where Rick spent his childhood years. He went to John Marshall Elementary School, Brookhurst Junior High School, and Anaheim High School, where he graduated. He was liked and loved by his many friends from that era. At some point Rick landed in Lake County, Northern California. His last known occupation was in mobile auto and truck repair. He spent some time in his last years in Illinois, and then returned to Northern California, where he passed away only a short time later, just 20 days before his 61st birthday. Rick had 2 older sisters, an older brother, and one son.
