Born April 16, 1875, in West Jordan, to William L. and Sophronia Watkins Bateman. Stockman, farmer. Served four missions for LDS Church. Married Mary J. Wilson Sept. 9, 1897, Salt Lake LDS Temple. Survivors: widow; nine sons, daughters, Wilson W., Mill Creek; Dean W., Dale P., Mrs. Royal (Evelyn) Spratling, Mrs. Blaine (Joy) Wixom, all West Jordan; Mrs. Lee (Luree) Brown, Holladay; Mrs. L. Glenn (Reeta) Turner, Chicago; Mrs. Lorus (Wanda) Pratt, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Harold (Furn) Cramer, Shelton, Wash.; three brothers, four sisters 37 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren."
