Donald E. Burrough, 90, Silvis, Ill., passed away Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010.

A former resident of Lucerne, he recently relocated from West Bend, Wis., to Silvis, Ill.

Born July 12, 1920, in Lucerne, Donald was the son of Frederick A. and Louise (Beard) Burrough. He was married July 4, 1943, in Logansport to Virginia R. (Ryan) Burrough, who passed away earlier this year.

A graduate of Lucerne High School and Purdue University, Donald was a devoted husband and father. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a navigator with the Naval Air Corps in the Pacific.

Following WWII and graduation from Purdue, he served a short tenure as associate professor at Purdue and then pursued a career in the farm equipment manufacturing business. He worked for J.I.

Case, John Deere and Gehl Company. He retired from Gehl Company in 1985 as vice president of engineering.

His hobbies included playing golf and studying investment strategies. Donald enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending winters in Arizona.

Surviving are two sons, Donald L. (Sue) Burrough, Silvis, Ill., and John Ryan (Carolyn) Burrough, Johnston, Iowa; one daughter, Gini L. (Steve) Curry, Reynoldsburg, Ohio; one brother, Raymond Burrough, Houston; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, Ivor, Alex, Arthur, William, Edgar and John Burrough.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport, with celebrant Patricia Fisher officiating.

Interment, with full military rites, will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.

Friends may call from noon until the time of services in the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
