Katherine Boykin Miller was born in 1827, daughter of Governor Stephen Decatur and Mary (Boykin) Miller. In 1846 Katherine married General James Chesnut's nephew, David Rogerson Williams II, and they visited often at Mulberry, the Chesnut home that David eventually inherited. In Mary Chesnut's "A Diary from Dixie", there are many references to "Kate" Williams. She was the mother of six children and died in 1876.
