Jonathan Watson was the last child of fourteen children born to Adam and Margaret Wamsley Harper of Tucker Co, WV. Many of his older brothers were well known as adventurers traveling to the western states of this country and even to California to search for gold. He married 16 Sep 1857 in Barbour, WV. By 1880, he is found in the Illinois census as a farmer in Carthage, Hancock, IL and still there in the 1900 census, still farming. Three children have been found on the census records: Cora J, Hermann and Ruth.
