Lucy grew up on a farm outside Little Falls and attended Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary and Little Falls High School. She worked as a waitress, mother, housewife, and as a cook at Incarnation School and Walker Homes in south Minneapolis. While living on Pleasant Avenue in south Minneapolis, she became active at Incarnation Church, serving as Women's Club president. Lucy was an avid and very competent bridge player who was much sought after as a partner. Lucy loved to cook for family and friends and was a gracious hostess. Upon retirement, she took up tennis and continued to play into her 80s. Lucy was an energetic walker, who only grudgingly slowed down in her later years.
Always known as Bushi to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she enjoyed being with each one of them and is remembered and loved by them all. She was also the beloved Aunt Lucy to her many nieces and nephews who kept in contact with her often.
Her greatest ability was that of making friends. Wherever she lived or worked, she soon found new friends and kept in touch with old ones throughout her life. Part of her attraction was her wonderful smile, for which she received many complements.
Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m, Tuesday, July 29th at the Church of the Annunciation, 509 W. 54th Street, Mpls. Visitation 4-7 p.m., Monday, July 28th at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 5801 Lyndale Ave. S., and one hour prior to mass at church. Private interment Gethsemane Cemtery, New Hope, MN.
Remembrances can be made to the Monastery of St. Clare, 8650 Russell Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN, 55431, or charity of choice.
