ELIDA -- Funeral services for Cecile E. Backey, 83, of 5297 Sharlene Drive, Elida, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Crates Funeral Home, Arlington, the Revs. David Grams and Willis Adams officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Van Buren Township.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Backey died at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 1999, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 15, 1915, in Van Wert County to Charles and Ann (Van Eman) Wharton. She married Emanuel B. Backet on Oct. 8, 1944, and he survives.
Mrs. Backey was a registered nurse practicing in Van Wert, Celina and Lima. She and her husband formerly farmed near Mortimer.
She was a graduate of Columbia-Union Seventh Day Adventist College in Washington, D.C. She was a member of Lima Seventh Day Adventist Church.
