Walter Eugene Wilford
Walter Eugene Wilford, 91, of Amherst, died May 15 at Golden Acres Nursing Home after a short illness.
Born in Amherst, he was a life long resident and a three-term Amherst Township Trustee.
Mr. Wilford owned and operated Wilford Motors for 35 years, retiring in 1966.
A life member of the National Rifle Association, he was a past president of the Lorain County Rifle and Pistol Association. He was also a member and past president of the Amherst Lions Club.
Mr. Wilford held an active pilot's license until the age of 72 and was a member of the Aircraft Owner and Pilots Association.
Survivor include his wife of 67 years, Nellie; sons, Donald C. of Kettering and Douglas D. of Amherst; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard R., in 1956; brother, Harvey; and sisters, Ruby and Caroline.
Services were May 18 in the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home with the Rev. David Gross, pastor of St. Peter United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was in Crownhill Cemetery.
