Chester C. Boggs, 84, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 8:18 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Imboden Creek Living Center, Decatur.

Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 28, at Rentfro Cemetery, Shumway, IL, with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL.

Memorials may be made to the Macon County Honor Guard, Alzheimer's Association Greater Illinois Chapter, or Imboden Creek Living Center.

Chester was born February 2, 1930, in Decatur, IL, son of Earl and Anna Irene (Netterville) Boggs. He married Ethel Audrey Brosend on September 18, 1959, in Decatur.

Chester served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a proud member of the Korean War Veterans Charles Parlier Chapter, American Legion Post #105, VFW Post #99, and Macon County Honor Guard. He retired from A.E. Staley in 1987. Chester enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Ethel of Decatur, IL; children: Lisa Moran and husband Dave, Terry Bryson and wife Liz, and Don Bryson and wife Ronella, all of Decatur, IL; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brother Elmer Laver of Effingham, IL; and several nephews.

Chester was preceded in death by his parents, son Jeffrey, daughter Nancy Bryson Boulware, sisters Ruth Criss, Dessie Simpson, and Amelia Layette.
