Enlisted at Warsaw Missouri on September 1, 1863 as Private with Co. A. 7th Missouri S. M. Cavalry mustered out October 30, 1863 at Missouri.

Francis M Adams "commonly called 'General' died at the Soldier's Home at Orting, Washington ... he served throughout the Civil War in the 7th M. S. M. with Major Houts, Captain Box, and others." (died. March 20, 1916 -Weekly Standard Herald of April 21, 1916)

Four of their children and wife, Frances J., had preceded him in death. Oral history has wife's maiden name as DeArmond, but most dates and names match otherwise.
