Mabel Pearl Rak, 98, of Traverse City died Friday, July 18, 2014 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

Mabel was born on Monday, April 10, 1916 to the late Elmer and Maude (Frazee) Braden in Traverse City. In August of 1938, she married Andy Fuksa who passed away in 1956. She married Louis Rak in 1958, and he preceded her in death in 1994.

Mabel enjoyed gardening and yardwork, working on crafts, and especially enjoyed over 50 years of winters in Lakeland, Florida.

She is survived by her daughter Joyce (Ron) Wooters of Traverse City, and a daughter in law Sarah Fuksa of Muskegon. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Cheryl (Dennis) Waisanen, Bruce (Deb) Wooters, Patrick (Becky) Wooters, Andrew "Butch" Fuksa and Sheila Moran and their children, Mabel's great grandchildren, Sara, Michael, Hunter, Andrea and AJ. She also has 2 great great grandchildren, Madison and Matthew Smith. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her son Andrew Fuksa, her parents, brothers Al, Carl, Ray, Fred, John and Jack Braden, sister Midge Hargraeves.

A time of remembering Mabel will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1 at The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, followed by a luncheon. Graveside services will take place immediately following at Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cherryland Humane Society or Munson Hospice House.
