"...suffered a lot with poor health. In his book John Riley writes: 'Maria remained unmarried and was a saintly woman, her life keeps reproaching me. I live aside of the church, yet hear Mass so seldom. Maria had three miles to walk, never missing a Friday and hearing two or three masses on Sundays and feast days. Before dying on September 22, 1880 she said, 'Is this now death?' She died so peacefully, so resigned.'"
